several mods to improve the terrain generation, add craftable content, biomes, flora, fauna and new interesting locations in the world
a skill system to improve your character as you make your place into the world (type "o" in game)
a powerful magic system to discover which also introduce new ennemies (with balancing tweaks of our own): find a rift, break some unstable riftblooms to get the components to craft the Manual of Magical Arts to get started
a alchemy system to help you tip the odds using carefully gathered herbs
no teleport commands this time, use beds and the teleportation systems
you keep your stuff when you die, but you'll have to repair your gear, improve, travel back to the place you where to be able to fight again (with newly spawned monsters)
you not only need to eat but also drink: settle near water, a river is best for drinkable water or craft a teapot and boil stagnant/salted water, then craft a canteen/waterskin for when you go exploring ; some food also provide hydratation and drinking regularly makes you stronger!
being a "gourmand" is rewarded: try different food and recipes it will make you stronger!
slightly less wolfs, hyenas and bears and their aggro radius reduced a bit, but be careful
the Nightwatcher can help you protect your home, but you need to find some gold to craft it
achievements! (type "l" in game)
Notable bugs
Decor Bazaar's ovens are cute but unbalanced after the fire clay changes in 1.20: please avoid them until it is fixed, use the ones provided by the Stone Bake Oven mod instead (or the basic vanilla one)
the dowsing rod does not work at all but there are other sources of fresh water; the mod author said this feature is being reworked
due to introduction of water quality unfortunately recipes involving water are often broken; as a workaround when using a container to transport water change mode (type "f") to use dirty water; the mod author is working on a solution
the "Supply setup before healing" quest in villages is bugged and will crash your client without giving you the reward, avoid for now
blocks with a question mark texture: some mods need fixes (Wildcraft, Feverstone…)
the Salt and Sands coral is not generating on the sea floor, the rest works fine
Advice
tip: make reed/wattle baskets and chests quickly, gather a bit of firewood and a firestarter, and make a temporary home before night
tip: craft a crude shield quickly and equip it when going outside, it is life saving
tip: you can move containers with their content with both empty hands and holding Shift + right click; you can even put it on your back or back on the ground by holding Ctrl + Shift + right click. More details on the CarryOn mod page.
survival: before settling somewhere check for: space to build, good line of sight, not close to forests/wolfs, nearby reeds and clay, easy food (berries…), water (to drink and fish)
magic: craft and follow the Manual of Magical Arts achievements as hint for what to do next, grow riftblooms, harvest them with the transmutation spell, kill magic monsters and use rituals to get components you cannot find
magic: beware the celestial prism and devouring void cannot be moved as the block is destroyed when hit, you need to perform the ritual with the obelisk placed at the final position
Mods we may (re)introduce

【🤔】late game tools and weapons (titanium, diamond…)
【🤔】Ochre: well-crafted knifes cannot hit ennemies and cannot be used in recipes, durability is quite unbalanced, lack of direction
【🤔】Bricklayers: seem to have bugs remaining (like pieces not diring in the firepit); also makes the storage vessel a pain in the ass to make

if you hit a bug or crash
if sharing the points of interest and geological information on the map is working well (the new vanilla map layer is in the way but you can disable it)
